Visuals for: Soulico – Exotic On The Speaker – CD Launch 28.01.2010 Barzilay TLV

Thought to share with you , some of what went down at the
Soulico - Exotic On The Speaker -- CD Launch at the Barzilay Club in Tel Aviv.  28.1.2010
The rehearsals were truly HOT and had a lot of energy, fun, jokes
it did feel that something serious is cooking and is about to explode.
The presence of the amazing locals talents such as the additional Kutiman, Idan K, and Danny Manor
on top of the Soulico boys and the rappers made the small room boiling hot..
a lot of video work prep on my side,  with some help of Noam Amir the one and THE only.
Roni Kaufman was joining the usual suspects to bring on the live feed video camera aspect to join the visual mix. Barzilay surface was never easy on the visual front, and so Roni ended up handcuffing her video camera tripod above the DJ booth -- so tricky…. but yet working ! this girl Rocks !!!
may i take the opportunity to share the fact it was my birthday,
so i got to invite the ol’ mates gang -- which was making me very happy to start with !
The stage was full of the locals talents and many rappers,
and was very crowded as it was- shaking and buzzing
-no one could hide their extremely great mood and high energy.
The Barzilay was packed -- and the vibe went up constantly.
The show went down quite flawless, a total meltdown
here is 2 Video’s -- a peep to what really went down
This video is the end of the gig , when everyone already totally out of it -
We loved it !!!
that’s what i call a truly happy Birthday !!!
Thanks everyone !!!

About the Video “3 steps”

The piece displays the quiet undertones of Tel Aviv life, and points out the various textures which define it: Alienation, quiet, restlessness, loneliness, movement, anxieties, human landscape vs. urban nature.

3 Steps follows the elements which fill the urban space.

The tree-lined boulevards. The people constantly roaming the streets, destinations unknown. Trees fighting for space against the backdrop of constant construction.

The passive fight of nature against the city’s constant tendency to expand and choke the space.

The artist combines digitally-processed still street scenes – and together displays the quiet atmosphere alongside the urban intensity.

Ray-V – Revital Elkayam, is a graduate of Camera Obscura Film school;

An active video- and Live video-artist for the past 9 years, in Israel and abroad.

2009 New Year SnowFlake 0.0.2 in Tel Aviv

2009 srarted with a lot of fun at Asaph [Tailor.vj] and Keren’s place, together with Noam and yours truly,

Drinking wine and munching goodies at our weekly “Wacom Forum” experiment where we draw and sketch with our wacoms [pen tablets] live to music – with Asaph’s new application Snowflake – an application he writes in processing and Java for this very purpose, and still is in the make, tailored to our wishes and needs.

in the meantime, we use also other open source other apps , hooking few laptops via the v4 video mixer and net, enjoying the ability to draw live together on the same output – projected on the wall live to music.

Noam took the lead “sketcher” role, while Asaph and i add the 2nd layers of colors, and “beat feel” textures, than erasing and making new room for a fresh sketch.

part of the fun is the ability to render the sketches to a mov video file pretty fast, while keeping its wight very light.

i hope to be able to upload soon some pictures we took and maybe also video animation bits we rendered.

- you are mostly welcome to try and use Snowflake with your Wacom:

so far – for pc users only.

anyone who’s interested in adding ideas or cooperate with us – are welcome to get in touch :)

Happy new 2009 :)
